In 2005, Inc. singled out Wisconsin as one of the best places in the U.S. to do business. The magazine cited the quality of the state’s public education system at the top of the list of factors contributing to this distinction, noting that our high-quality schools lead to a well-educated workforce.

In 2004, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized Milwaukee Public Schools as an Excellence award recipient for supporting and protecting a healthy environment for its students and staff.
