Ever shopped Kohl’s Department Store and thought, "This store has the best selection!" If so, thank our Merchandising Division. These Associates are part market trend analyst and part fortune teller. Why? In February, they’re buying up Back-to-School merchandise. In the middle of June, they’re predicting the top items on our customers’ holiday shopping lists. In fact, on any given day, they’re planning for a season that’s six months in the future!
And they rarely miss their mark. Our products fly off our shelves, due in large part to the outstanding buying skills of our Merchandising Division.
Departmental responsibilities include:
- Determining market and brand strategies, and purchasing product assortments
- Implementing and executing financial plans
- Selecting content for advertising circulars
- Analyzing store sales and inventory levels
- Monitoring business trends to maximize sales opportunities
- The department is staffed with Divisional Merchandise Managers, talented buyers, assistant buyers, and merchandise specialists, among others
